Holidays at the Gansheimers!

Thomas, thank you for welcoming our class to your home on Friday night.  The lights were amazing and it was a great night had by all!

Thanks Gansheimers!

This Week's Events....

  • Math test on Wednesday.  The review will come home today.  The kiddos must be able to do long division, measure angles, and complete story problems.

  • No spelling this week.  Students should still be reading 30 minutes every night but are not required to fill out the reading logs for the week.  I'm still having them fill out the assignment book part so you are aware of what is going on for the week (tests, parties, etc.)

  • Graham Cracker House Party is tomorrow!  All of you are invited to attend.  We're going to need a lot of help, please consider joining us.  The party starts at 10:00.  Just meet in the classroom.  We hope to see you there!

  • Our class PJ day is Thursday.  Your child is allowed to wear their pajamas to go with our Polar Express theme.

  • Last day of the second quarter is Thursday.  No school on Friday.  Winter Break starts!!!

A day of spelunking at Kartchner Caverns!

Our Kartchner field trip was amazing! We got to ride in a fancy coach bus since it took us an hour and a half to get there. While there we were able to go inside the caverns and see the phenomenal speleothems. Kubla Kahn was the talk of the trip. We had a perfect day!

November News

Here are a few updates and things to be aware of for the future...........

A big congratulations to Thomas Gansheimer and Savannah Narcaroti for representing our class at the Painted Sky Spelling Bee.  You both were phenomenal and we are so proud of you!

We take off to Kartchner Caverns on Friday!  This will be such a special time for the kiddos.  Each student will need a sack lunch, sneakers, and their Ronnie's Rascals shirt.  We will be leaving at 7:30.  All students should be in the classroom by 7:15.  We will return to Painted Sky around 3:00 p.m.  Look for the specifics and reminders to come home with your child this week.   Happy spelunking!

Book orders are due this week.  I've extended the due date to this Friday, the 20th.  The reason I extended it is because if you order online you will recieve a coupon for a free book ($5 or less) for your next order.  You can either order online at:   http://clubs.scholastic.com/parentordering/servlet/ParentHome;jsessionid=0001qc0Cec8e-sxPZPB61F_iZZw:10i3mfrao:10l2jo08a?refresh=1
or you're welcome to send your order in with your child and I will send in the class order.

Grades are online.  Please be sure to sign in and check your student's progress since we are at the half way point.  Some students are missing work so it is marked as a zero in the gradebook until it is turned in.  This brings their grades down and that might be why some are lower than you might have expected.  Remember, students are welcome to redo papers that scored an F and I will average the two grades.

Ticket to Read has been a huge success!!  The kiddos are loving it and it is a great resource to use at home.  Everyone has received the letter, usernames and passwords in order to participate.  I encourage everyone to do so!  This can count as your 30 minutes!

Please be sure to check the volunteer calendars that are online and the ones I sent home last month to see when you're scheduled.  If you would like to be added please let me know.  We'd love to have you!

If you're thinking of donating tax credit money to our class, it's not too late!  You can donate at any point in the year.  We use tax credit money for field trips and guest speakers, such as Mad Science.  I'm working on a field trip to Tubac in the spring to the one room school house.  This is such an experience and I'm hoping it works out.  If you or someone you know would like to donate to our class just let me know and I'll send home the form.  If you're a Raytheon employee, Raytheon will match whatever it is you donate to our class so the kiddos benefit twice!  It's a win win for everyone!

The fall has been a good one and our class is starting to become a unit.  I'm thankful for each one of them!

Happy Harvest Party!

We had a "Spook"tacular time!

Our Harvest Party was a success!  Thank you to Michel Knox and Janey Russell for planning it for us.  Also, thank you to Bob Knox, Mary Gansheimer, Rosa Dailey, and Tania Haymore for volunteering that day.

Welcome Back!

The second quarter is off with a bang!  Here is the latest and greatest from room 15.........

We want to welcome Isabel Daily to our class.  She is a new student to our class but has been at Painted Sky before.  We're excited to have her!

The Hoe Down is this Friday.  The kiddos are encouraged to dress "western" to school on Friday.  If they show their western spirit they get a sticker on their incentive chart!  The silent auction will take place in the gym and the loot is awesome!  Our class basket is the Broadway of Tucson basket.  It includes 4 tickets to the opening night of Legally Blonde the Musical, 4 t-shirts, a backpack, notebook and pen, a keychain, and a giftcard for dinner to Hifalutin.  It was donated by my good friend Marc who is the director of marketing at BofT so I know the seats are amazing.  Be sure to bid on it!

A big thank you goes out to Michele Knox and Janey Russell for planning our Harvest Party on October 30 from 2:00-3:00.  They have some great things planned.  Be sure to send in your $5 to cover the cost of pizza, cookie decorating, and craft centers.  If this is inconvenient for anyone, please let them know.  Students are allowed to dress in a "festive" way this year!  No scary masks and dress code is still inforced.

The November and December volunteer calendars came home today.  Please let me know if you need to switch with someone or if you want to be added.  I heart volunteers!

Report cards come home this Friday.  These are the grades for the first quarter.  In order to make the honor role the students must have a GPA of 3.5 or higher.  If they have a 4.0 they make the principal's honor roll.  The assembly for honor roll is scheduled for October 29 at 9:00 a.m.  We hope to see you there!

Scrapbooks are well underway.  If you would like a scrapbook for your child please send in $20 at your earliest convenience.  Thank you!

Please continue to help your child memorize their multiplication and division facts.  I can't stress the importance enough.  Every math lesson we do has some form of multiplication and division in it.

Thank you for all of your help.  I'm looking forward to making the second quarter a great one!

A Fun Day

Today we learned about # sentences in math. We made 5 true/faulse number sentences and then gave our math books to write F for faulse and T for true. It was so much fun. Today in P.E. we went to france.
We also learned about the Constitution. First we wrote our own class version. Then we painted it yellow and brown so it would look old! Finally, we threw it around the classroom so it would look old and crumpled. It was really fun! Today was really a fun day.

P.S.: we didn't have a test today :)

Here are a few of the great things going on in room 15!

We are finishing chapter two in math this week. Hopefully we will be taking our test this Friday. This chapter dealt with range, mode, median and partial addition and subtraction. We're continuing to learn about our great state, Arizona! We will be taking our counties and regions test this week. The spelling words for the week are: rest, perhaps, certain, feel. Dictation will be on Thursday and our test will be on Friday. We will be taking our MAP reading test tomorrow morning as well.

Book orders are due tomorrow. You can place your order online or send it in.

Thank you for getting the t-shirt orders in on time. A big thank you to Mary Gansheimer for collecting and placing our orders.

Class volunteers started last week and you've been a huge help! I've posted the volunteer calendar for the year on both the website and the blog. Feel free to check it out and email me days you would like and I'll update the calendar. Or you can update the hard copy next time you're in our class. It is located on the back of my office door. We love volunteers!

Scrapbooks are well underway. If you haven't already, please let me know ASAP if your child will be getting one. I will need to pick up the books next week as well as start to put together pages. Thank you!

Please return your conference forms. If the date that you are scheduled for doesn't work please call or email me. IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT YOU ONLY RESCHEDULE IF IT IS ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY. I have 26 conferences to run and there's not a lot of room for me to reschedule. So please try and make your date and time fit if at all possible.

Please be sure to check your child's assignment book and homework. Some kiddos are frequently coming in without all or some of their homework and not turning in the homework and reading logs. Frequently missing these two things will drop their grades. Grades should be up and running on our website this week. Your help is greatly appreciated!

That's a lot of information at once! Thanks for your continued support of your child's education. We've got a great group!

Mrs. Ronnie
